Recipe adapted from The Plaid and Paisley Kitchen’s blog for Double Chocolate Banana Bread with Sea Salt Caramel Glaze Bread: http://www.pandpkitchen.com/2013/04/11/double-chocolate-banana-bread-with-sea-salt-caramel-glaze/

This bread  is low-fat and low-sugar and it is DELICIOUS!!! I will definitely add this to my bread rotation!

Ingredients
1/4 cup applesauce, at room temperature
2 T. coconut oil
3 bananas, RIPE and smashed
1/2 cup sugar
2 T. skim milk
1 t. almond extract
2 eggs
1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda
pinch of fresh cracked sea salt
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 cup chocolate chips
sliced almonds, for topping

Directions
In a large bowl, combine apple sauce and sugar. Add coconut oil and blend in with the applesauce mixture by pressing it against the bowl with a spoon. Stir in bananas, eggs, and almond extract. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Stir in cocoa, milk, and chocolate chips. Pour batter into a greased loaf pan. Top with sliced almonds. Bake for about 50 minutes at 350 degrees. After 30 minutes, place a sheet of foil over the bread to prevent burning the top of the bread.
