Steak and Cheese

I was really craving a big and delicious Steak and Cheese. This one is healthy, seriously. If you use a lean steak, remove the inside of the hoagie roll and use one slice of provolone rather than processed cheese then you’ve eaten a healthy dinner. I served the steak and cheese with a side salad:) Oh…and it tasted amazing.

1/2 lb. petite sirloin steak, sliced thin (flank steak is a good lean steak to use as well), cut against the grain into thin slices
1/2 pint mushrooms, sliced
1/2 yellow onion, sliced
1 garlic clove, coarsely chopped
1 green pepper, sliced (optional)
3 slices of provolone cheese (sliced thin)
3 hoagie rolls, cut in half lengthwise, a little bit of the inside bread removed and lightly toasted
1/2 t. worcestershire sauce
1/2 t. soy sauce (reduced sodium)
salt and pepper

Place steak on a HOT saucepan with 1 T. olive oil. Season with salt and pepper.Stir constantly for 2 minutes or until the visible pink it gone. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside. Add onions, mushrooms and garlic to the pan. Cook for 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Add steak back to the pan and sauce and stir together. Section mixture into three portions. Top with cheese and serve directly onto the bread
