Classic Gingersnaps


Gingersnaps are such a fall cookie. They are the chewiest cookie there is! If you don’t have a good gingersnap recipe, adopt this one. Every family should have a gingersnap recipe:)

Ingredients
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 molasses
1 egg
2 1/4 cup flour
2 t. baking soda
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. ginger
1/2 t. ground cloves
1/4 c. sugar for the top of the cookie

Directions
In a large bowl, combine 1 cup sugar, butter, molasses, and the egg. Beat until light and combine. In separate bowl, mix together all the remaining dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture. Make dough into a ball and cover with plastic wrap. refrigerate for 1 hour.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Shape dough into small balls and dip one side into sugar. Place balls onto a cookie sheet, lines with parchment paper. Bake for 8-12 minutes.
Yields 5 dozen
